Convener
Marita Cantwell is a faculty member in the Department of Plant Sciences and a Cooperative Extension Postharvest Specialist at UC Davis. She conducts a research and education program on postharvest physiology, quality, and handling of horticultural crops. Research areas include the effect of preharvest factors on quality and storage life of vegetables, physiology and handling of specialty fruits and vegetables, and quality of fresh-cut products. Marita is an instructor in annual workshops conducted by the Postharvest Technology Center and has organized nineteen annual Fresh-cut workshops.She also contributes to other national and international postharvest educational events and conferences. She is a member of the American and the International Societies for Horticultural Science (ASHS, ISHS), United Fresh Produce Association (UFPA), the Produce Marketing Association (PMA), and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).

The UC Davis Postharvest Technology Center is a leading source of information on quality, safety and marketability of fresh produce.
